1) PM_CNVRT.COM
This utility converts Path Master binary config files
to text files.
As a default, Path Master creates binary files to store
your 20 favorite paths. The only way to edit these files
is to use:
PM /E
or PM /E:[file]
If you prefer to use your own editor when creating paths, to
get advanced editing functions like COPY/MOVE text, etc, then
use PMCNVRT.
╓──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╖
║ PMCNVRT converts Path Master binary files into text files. ║
╙──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╜
You can then import your new text files into Path Master
using the /BIG option.
Text files are a GREAT alternative to the normal binary config
files. You can edit them easily, add several directories to
them, and have paths up to 150 CHARACTERS!
Usage: PMCNVRT [binary config file] [text file]
So, to convert the default \PATH.CFG to a new text file
called TEXT.CFG, you would use:
PMCNVRT \path.cfg text.cfg
2) PM_SAVE.COM
This saves the current environmental variables into a batch
file called MINE.BAT. When this batch file is run, it restores
all variables to what they were at the time PM_SAVE.COM was run.
MINE.BAT's typical contents would read:
SET PATH=C:\!\UTILS;C:\!\DOS
SET COMSPEC=C:\!\4DOS\4DOS.COM
SET PM=DZ3,NOM
SET PROMPT=$e[0;30;47m$p$g
You'll notice the "SET" before all your environmental variables.
When run, this will set the above variables to the ones listed.
This allows you to SAVE YOUR ENVIRONMENT, then experiment with
different prompts, comspec line, path, PM's variable, or any other
that is set.
This eliminates A LOT of typing and wasted time trying to restore
something you messed up.
3) PM_EXIST.COM
This is a batch file utility that sets the ERRORLEVEL based upon
if a file is on the current path or not.
Usage: PM_EXIST file
RETURNS: 0 file exists
1 no file found
For example, you have a batch file that wants to use PKZIP to
compress some files. How do you know PKZIP.EXE exists on the
user's path?
PM_EXIST allows you to determine this, quickly and easily.
